FAQ

Questions from parents

Starting OT can feel like a big step. Here are answers to the questions families ask us most often.

Purposeful Pathways OT supports children from early years through primary school age, typically from 2 to 12 years. If you're unsure whether OT is right for your child, get in touch and we can talk it through.

No referral is needed for private paediatric occupational therapy. You can book directly. If your child has existing reports from a GP, paediatrician, or school, bring them along — they help us build a fuller picture.

Sessions are offered in our Wexford clinic, in your home, at school, or in the community — wherever best supports your child's goals. We'll agree the right setting together at your initial assessment.

Initial assessments usually take 60–90 minutes and include time to talk with you as parents or carers, observe your child at play, and discuss a recommended plan of care.

Many Irish health insurance plans include cover for occupational therapy. We provide detailed receipts after each session. Please check your policy or contact your provider for confirmation.
